Photographic  safaris differ from traditional safaris in that their focus is capturing wildlife and nature through photography; whereas traditional safaris are simply about wildlife viewing. So to put it simply a photographic safari is a guided wildlife photography expedition to capture shots of animals in their natural habitat.

Booking a private photographic safari gives you the freedom to travel at a time you choose.  But more importantly you will have the attention of myself and our guide devoted to you alone, without having to share with other guests. It's incredibly personal and offers you the time to fully explore your photography and learn about the wildlife  at your own pace.

A private Photographic Safari can be tailored for one person or a group of people who wish to travel together

Also included, if required, is photography tuition before the trip so that you are confident with your camera and ready to start photographing as soon as we arrive in the Masai Mara.

The Camp

We will be staying at the Governors' Main Camp, which is nestled along the winding banks of the Mara River, in the heart of the Masai Mara National  Reserve.  The area next to the camp, the Musiera Marsh, is well known for being the home to the Marsh Pride of Lions, which were featured in the BBC documentary series ‘The Big Cat Diary”.

The entire camp is under canvas with all the comforts of a luxury hotel.  Some of the 25 tents line the riverbank, tucked into the forest they enjoy uninterrupted views of the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara.  The tents are big, bright and  allow in lots of natural light. All tents are classic safari style each with ensuite bathrooms and a private verandah.  The tents have electric lights and 220 Volt Uk plugs for charging cameras and phones. Wifi is available in the camp.

There is a bar tent with a deck overlooking the Mara River and a dining tent with amazing views over the plains.  The camp has a gift shop and a spa, offering a range of treatments such as massages and facials.

You will have exclusive use of an open jeep and I will be your host and photographic guide throughout the trip, providing  advice and assistance on creating images.  Our driver / guide is qualified, experienced and knowledgeable and will find us some great wildlife sightings
