Wildlife Photography on Safari — Ann Aveyard

A talk combining photography, wildlife, practical advice and personal experience — and the story of how one African safari changed the direction of her life.

Wildlife photographer Ann Aveyard shares the story of how one safari to Kenya sparked a passion for photography and ultimately led to a completely new career.

Through her images and stories from the field, Ann explains why she returns time and time again to the Masai Mara, sharing some of her favourite wildlife encounters and the stories behind the photographs.

Along the way, she offers practical tips for photographing wildlife, from camera settings and composition to understanding behaviour and anticipating those fleeting moments. She also shares advice on planning and booking a safari, what to consider when choosing where to stay, and how to get the most from your time in the field.

Having travelled to Kenya many times over the past 16 years, Ann has experienced the Masai Mara in different seasons and conditions, witnessing the remarkable behaviour of its wildlife and the challenges of photographing animals in the wild.

Now leading her own small-group photographic safaris, she shares insights into life in the field, the importance of patience and observation, and why some of the most rewarding photographic opportunities come from taking time to watch and understand an animal rather than simply looking for the next sighting.
